Cross-Sectional Domestic Survey

The cross-sectional domestic survey targeted different groups of people. This was in terms of their age and social status. The survey produces data for consumption on a yearly basis. This is important due to the fluid nature of the factors under investigation. Such factors include levels of employment, poverty, education, family and relations, and population change among others (American Community Survey, 2012). This is what makes this survey unique. Tabulation has been used as the main method of data collection. This has helped the researchers to analyze various scientific questions under study such as the rates of unemployment, the relationship between population change and the level of poverty among others.

Major domestic survey

This survey is found in the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. The survey targeted people of all age groups, starting from 12 to 59 years old (National Longitudinal Studies, n.d.). The main method of data collection used was interviewing and sampling. The use of tables is also notable in this survey. The data collected in this survey has been very crucial to sociologists, economists and researchers.

The sampling strategy used in this survey is quite effective. This is because the researchers have split the target population into different age-groups. They have also used a comparative approach to the research, as is evident when they analyze young men against older men. This also made it easy to answer the scientific questions formulated for the research. Thus, it is a rich source of information for sociologists, political analysts, economists among others.

Historical population databases

This is the China Multi-Generational Panel Dataset-Liaoning. It has a target population of about 698 communities living in northeast China. It involves the observation of more than 260,000 residents. The study covers the time-span between 1749 and 1909 (Nang Rong Projects, 2004). What makes this study different from others of the same nature is its large sample of the target population: 260,000 residents. Another feature is the long duration of time under which the observation of the sample population was done. It, therefore, effectively addresses the scientific question of the changes in demographic factors, as well the social and political setup of the communities.
